This is Maserati Merak SS from ’70s. Beautiful italian car by ItalDesign Giugiaro. Old car with old cassette deck.
Customer brought this Maserati without interior parts. No seats, no carpet. Just dash board and engine cover.
We have to install 4 speakers, subwoofer and 5channel amplifier without cutting any holes.
Old Blaupunkt Radio with memory box
Maserati Merak SS
Head unit- Blaupunkt cassette deck with memory box
Additional source unit – Wirez Bluetooth Adapter
Amplifier – 5 channel Soundstream Reference Micro
Speakers- Focal 130 AC
Subwoofer- 6.75″Kicker Comp R
Bluetooth adapter is a primary signal source, when you want to listen FM-AM adapter shuts down automatically, when you shut off the radio- Bluetooth adapter turns back on. So most of the time you can stream your music via Bluetooth.
Amplifier will be installed in the front “trunk”, so we had to run power wires from the battery in the back to the front through the cabin.
To protect amplifier and hide Bluetooth adapter, we’ve made custom box wrapped in black carpet.
Mesh grill with Altered Sound”logo 🙂 Here is how the box looks in place
Rear speakers installed in the stock locations behind the seats. There was no problem with these speakers. But front speakers…that’s the problem. This Maserati Merak SS have no place for the front speakers, also we can’t cut any holes in the door panels. This way we have to make custom boxes for the front speakers.
Russian birch, cloth, fiberglass and carpet. After few hours we’ve got nice speaker boxes on the floor which sits perfect!
Even handbrake works!
Another problem- subwoofer. The only one place for it- passenger footwell. There is not so much room for 10″ or even 8″speaker, so we decided to use 6.75 Kicker Comp R. Really nice speaker for small places.
Custom made sealed subwoofer box installed on the firewall with two stainless steel bolts.
Speaker protected with black grill
