This gorgeous bike came to check the OEM Harman Kardon radio and amplifier. Radio was working, but there was no sound from the speakers.
Fairing cover is taken off and we see the radio and aplifier
After couple hours of research and troubleshooting we were 100% sure that the issue is in the radio.
Time to fix the radio and see will we get sound or no. This how the radio looks from inside
Yes! We have sound and now we can install new amplifier. This little but powerful Soundstream STEALTH series amp will work for front and rear speakers.
The bike was equpped with some aftermarket Harley-Davidson speakers. The rear speakers will be replaced with 6.5″ Rockford Fosgate 2-way speakers.
Look at this difference
New speakers installed!
Front speakers was same size and sound quality, so we decided to replace them as well. Hi-FI ADS speakers for the front and much more bass and clarity as the result!
Hello. I have a 2010 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic with a factory installed Harman Kardon radio that does not work. (Just displays the time)
Is it worth repairing, or should I purchase a new replacement?
Thanks
Hi Frank. First- factory Harman Kardon radio is old. It have only CD and Radio with AUX. To repair this radio you will spend about 400 CAD. New aftermarket radios you can buy for 500 and up. And it will have USB, and Bluetooth. Also with aftermarket radio it will be easier and better way to build nice system with new speakers and amplifier.
We waiting for new Rockford Fosgate radio and it’s going to be the best radio on the market for your bike. Yes the price is about 800-900 but it’s really worth the money
Good Day , I have the Harley 6.5 Boom Head Unit in my 2016 Street Glide Special , I would like to replace the touch screen glass du to mine being damaged , thank you and Happy New Year.
Hello. Unfortunately you can’t buy a touchscreen only to repair your radio. You need a new radio, or used one. Also you can upgrade to new 2019+ Boom GTS radio as well
Thank you for the feed this is curious as what we need to solder to fix when we take apart so we can get the speakers to work again
You need to find amplifier chip pinout and solder to audio input pint (L+ R+ GND)

Hi,
I have an issue to my current radio. Everything seems to be working fine except it doesnt transmit sound. I believe the wiring and speakers is good. Suspect the problem lies with the head unit itself. I have already remove the radio but i have no idea which parts needs to be repaired. Could you point me in the right direction? Like which particular part need to be replaced and where can i find the parts? Perhaps a picture of the parts would be helpful. Appreciate your help.
Speaker sound cuts out after riding the bike for 20 to30 minutes move the speaker selector switch to another position and the sound will come on again for a period of time, you have to kept moving the speaker selector switch to get the sound. Got any suggestions?
Hey Walter. First you have to do radio diagnostics

I’d say you need new radio or repair your existing radio
Salve , ho una Electra del 2002 , volevo sapere per cortesia se la radio HD harman karmadon può essere installata .
Grazie
Hello. I think you can do this. Check all the wiring before. But I’d put aftermarket radio. It will be way better than HK radio
I have a GTS boom from my 2020 ultra limited. Took it to the stealership and they say I fried my radio, due to having 4ohm speakers hooked up to it instead of the 2ohm speakers. Radio powers up just fine just no sound. Where can I ship my radio off to get a replacement or have it fixed?
Your stealership is lying to you. You can use 4Ohm speakers no problem.
Some radios can handle speakers with 4Ohm and up but can’t be used with resistance below 4 ohms. So i guess there is some other issue and maybe not with your radio. Check all the wiring, check all pins in the connectors.
