First, we have to get the signal from the factory radio. This F150 has just a basic radio without amplifier so we can just take signal from speakers. For best result we would like to use Digital Sound Processor, but customer decided to start with hi level signal.
This is how the dash without radio trim looks like. Signal will be taken from CD-player in the bottom.
The amplifiers was installed on the rear wall right behind the seats. All wiring secured. Power and ground is 0 AWG, speaker wire 12AWG
Now time to install Focal Kevlar series speakers! Tweeters was fitted nicely into a factory location.
Before we install the woofers in the doors we have to do some preparation and modification.
First- make new speaker adapters to fit new speakers. We did it with MDF. Secured to the metal using factory screws and reinforced with 4 more screws on top and the bottom. Painted black for waterproof and OEM look
Speakers ready to go in the doors! But wait! Even if your F150 was made from military grade aluminum or steel and you want to get maximum from your speakers- you have to do the sound deadening!
So we did proper sound deadening to prevent any vibrations and rattle and improve the midbass. Here is the picture during sound deadening.
And now time to put the speakers on!
Beautiful Focal Kevlar series. It looks beautiful and sound amazing if you`re installed it properly!
So that`s it! Install is done. Subwoofer will be installed later.
I’m currently attempting to connect my new Infinity refs to an amp in my 2018 F150 XLT…how did you route the 16 gauge wire from the speakers back to the amp? The OEM route uses the rubber conduit that runs behind the glove compartment on the passenger side…not sure how you’d get in there…
Hello. if you want to install just a speakers to stock amp- you can use stock wires. But if you working on some nice SQ build with nice aftermarket amps and speakers you have to run new wires to the doors. take the glovebox out a fish the wire through the rubber grommet in the pillar. There is a plastic plug with you have to unplug. same story on the driver door
